Cumming, Margaret
After a long and wonderful life, Margaret Cumming died peacefully on November 12, 2011 at home in Dundas. She was 90 years old and, while she will be dearly missed by her family, they also celebrate a life well lived. Margaret and her husband and best friend Andrew came to Canada from Northern Ireland to start a family and a new life. She continued her teaching career and after retirement Margaret and Andrew spent winters in Florida and traveled around the world. After Andrew's death, Margaret would spend her winters in Turkey with daughter Anne and grandson Noah. These last three years she has lived at Amica and the family is grateful to friends and staff there for their care and generosity. Margaret will always be remembered for her kindness and wisdom, as well as her artistic and culinary talents. Margaret exhibited her artistic flair in many ways. She won awards from the AGO for her paintings and frequently created one of a kind fabric pieces for her loved ones. She had excellent knitting skills and made superb Irish scones, earning her first place at the Rockton World's Fair last year. Son Brian, daughter-in-law Lucy, granddaughter Grace, as well as grandchildren Jessie, Amos, Neal and their mother Sheila, daughter Anne and grandson Noah are all eternally thankful and blessed that Margaret was such an integral part of their lives. Margaret Cumming wasn't much for ceremony so the family suggests that you honour her memory by making a donation to a worthy charity, performing a random act of kindness, or by reading a good book.
