Jack Crawford Barr
July 9, 1918 - February 19, 2012
Good bye Jack "Mr Barr" you were the BEST store manager we ever worked for (BARR NONE) every day was a work day, but tou made it a fun day. Never knew what your next little surprise was, that made it a joy to go to work. I worked with you in the late 59's and early 60's, I meta a girl there and dated her, within a few week's you were calling her Nrs. O'Sullivan. We are still together, but no MRS> (Sorry Jack). To us you were an exceptional human being to work with (NOT FOR). To your family we have lost a GEM of a person. He is more than likely shouting orders, from his office in heaven.
Our condollence's to ALL the FAMILY!!
Denis O'Sullivan & Vera Ann Morrison
Although many miles separate us at this time please know that we are holding you all close in thought and prayer....we will be with you in spirit on Thursday as you honor and pay tribute to the patriarch of the Barr family. God Bless.......Pat & Brian

I too worked for "Mr. Barr" some 50 years ago ... one of my first jobs as a teenager, 'bagging and dragging' at Loblaw's on weekends and after school. I credit Mr. Barr with instilling his expectation of a solid work ethic and sense of committment : You make a promise, you tell someone you'll be there, you do it, because it is the right and ONLY way one conducts oneself. At the same time, he had an impish sense of humour, that as a teenager new to the "adult" workworld, I admit was lost on me at the time. I was in fear and awe, never suspecting he was kidding until much later in our relationship. Mr. Barr even took me on full-time as summer relief for a couple of years while I saved to go to university, trusting me with cashier duties as well as section ordering responsibility. Without that chance to earn, I'd never have been able to get my degree! I am now retired from my 39 year career as a Hamilton Police detective and look back with great fondness on Mr. Barr, crediting him with a successful launch of a career he probably never knew he was helped launch. With great respect, I say, "Thank you,'Mr.Barr'" and want the family to know how much he did for me and gave to me, a half century ago. With fond memories and gratitude, I say Au Revoir, Mr. Barr, an unforgettable man whose memory I still treasure.
